Elias Sterry (Source: Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s: Ancestry.com. "The English Ancestry and Homes of the Pilgrim Fathers Who Came to Plymouth on the 'Mayflower' in 1620, the 'Fortune' in 1621, and the 'Anne' and the 'Little James' in 1623", Charles Edward Banks, p84.) The New England Historical Society has checked their records and found no such entry. However, in the book 'The English Ancestry and Homes of the Pilgrim Fathers Who Came to Plymouth on the Mayflower 1620, Fortune 1621, Anne and Little James 1623' by Charles Edward Banks [1929] it states "Elias STORY came as a fellow servant with George Soule in the family of Edward Winslow from London. It is a question whether this name is not Stery or Sterry. Bradford, writing in 1650, thirty years after the landing, could hardly be expected to remember accurately the correct spelling of the names of the young men-servants who died unmarried in the first winter as did Story. The name Story in Bradford's original manuscript shows a blotted o or e, and the unusual name of Elias found in the Sterry family of London seems to point to it as the correct name for this passenger. The will of Thomas Sterry, citizen and goldsmith of London in 1578, made a bequest to his son Elias Sterry ... As the Pilgrim Story or Sterry died in 1621 leaving no issue the answer is of no genealogical importance ..."

However Virginia or Barbados are likely. William Reece and David Gaines were indentured for the years shown to James Sterry. James Sterry is likely to be James Sterry bp 1635 at Bristol and the son of James Sterry, a sailmaker, born Ruardean, Gloucestershire and buried in Bristol on the Ruardean line. His brother William died in Boston, Massachussets, USA. Will proved Oct 26, 1685 (PCC) noted William was of Bristol but died at Boston, Mass. Left estate to his wife Charity, resident in Bristol. No mention of any children.)
